THINGS OF BEAUTY
"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness."
John Keats, Endymion (1818).
Undoubtedly many a dealer in old masters has referred to these well-known verses when presenting an item from their inventory. However, they never fail to resonate with those standing face to face with these maginificent artworks, that have come down to us through the centuries. These relics from time immemorial conjure up a world now lost, or at the very least much changed, yet their craftsmanship and beauty remain universally true.
At Galerie Lowet de Wotrenge, we are but temporary keepers of these 'things of beauty', safeguarding them until they have met a new - and sometimes final - home. As presenting them to a live audience is difficult at the moment, we have decided to turn adversity into opportunity by further refurbishing the gallery, awaiting our reopening on May 13 for our selling exhibition T R E A S U R E S, pt. 2.
In the meanwhile, we invite you to browse some of the highlights from our collection.
